A WordPress “Post” is like a post on your Facebook Timeline

Both are  time sensitive. If you look at the “Edit Post” Permalink URL you will see that a Post ( shown highlighted in yellow ) is actually in a preceding “date” folder ( in this case 2014/09/10)

By contrast, the information on a “static” “page” has no time stamp  or “date folder” and is accessible like a “page” from a conventional website, via a navbar menu.

Your Posts should have some visual variety using “Post Format”

Unlike Facebook, each WordPress Post can have a different look if your WordPress theme supports “Post Format” options
